Sea beet

Today I made my day!
Big patch of sea beet (wild spinach)
I found a huge patch of sea beet just behind the University 😀
I foraged like there was no tomorrow, of course leaving a lot there, so I can come back in a few weeks to collect some more fresh leaves. Once at home I couldn't resist to weigh my haul, to discover that I gathered almost 1 kg of leaves, impressive!
Usually I find this plant on the sea front, it is the first time that I see such a big patch somewhere else.

Sea beet (Beta vulgaris subspecies maritima) belong to the family Amaranthaceae, the same family of the commercial spinach. The texture and the taste are very pleasant and similar to the spinach, and because of that, it is also knows as wild spinach.
